Birds & Bees Honey

Birds & Bees Honey

Our goal is to provide our local community and extended community with 100% natural, raw, chemical-free honey so that they can enjoy all the benefits that nature provides. Our apiaries are located in Cleveland, Jefferson, Lincoln and Ouachita counties pollinating and collecting nectar from various blooms locally, and it is bottled right here in Rison, Arkansas, at the Birds & Bees Honey House. Our honey is unheated and strained, not filtered, to preserve all the health benefits and its natural flavor. Our honey retains the pollen and other natural properties that provide health benefits including helping people with their seasonal allergies. We encourage our customers to research the many benefits of raw, natural honey.

Birds & Bees Honey is chemical free. We do not use any chemical treatment inside our hives to control the pests like small hive beetles and varroa mites that have been known to plague honeybees. We use natural treatments, instead. We use many organic treating methods that have been proven to work on our hives. The only drawback to these methods is that they are more labor intensive and require frequent inspections. We cannot control the environment around our bees such as power line sprays or sprays by highway departments, etc. However, if crops are being sprayed in our area, our bees are covered and detained inside their hives until the risk has cleared.

We monitor and move our beehives throughout the year to collect nectar from blooms of blackberries, blueberries, clover, and various flowering trees and vines. We also work with farmers in Jefferson, Lincoln and Cleveland Counties to pollinate local crops and fruits.

Building a beekeeping and honey business has been a busy process, for sure. Making our own bee boxes from cypress wood, splitting bee colonies, raising our own queens, taking care of the apiaries, as well as collecting, bottling, and selling honey is what a beekeeper’s life is all about.

Our honey has brought us some blue ribbons from local fairs and given us a chance to meet so many new people through our local farmers market where our honey is sold, as well as convenience stores, grocery stores, and other businesses in southern Arkansas.  Check out our where to buy page for more information.

Birds & Bees Honey is local, raw, 100% natural, and chemical-free. If you are looking for natural health benefits, we would love for you to give us a try.

We would like to thank all of our community and customers for there continued support.
